Encore!

It looks like Oh Sweet Sadie! will be back late this summer for an encore show to be held in Daybreak's new retail district. The shopping district will be beautiful and so convenient for Daybreak's residents. I hear there will be a 50's style diner, a brewery pub, a market, and many more cool things- including a weekend of Oh Sweet Sadie! We love Daybreak, and are so grateful for their continued support and sponsorship.

Daybreak is really blossoming into the community they have promised. The lake and landscaping is beautiful, and they have just opened the most amazing park on the shore of Oquirrh Lake. It is on Oquirrh Lake Road, by all the red tulips, and looks like a huge ropes course. I could not get my kids to leave. The place is always bustling, and with it next to the little beach, I wasn't in too big of a hurry to leave myself.

What a fantastic show last weekend! We had a bunch of new faces at Oh Sweet Sadie!, artisans and shoppers alike. We had a few times during those two days where the lines were unreasonably long at checkout. We apologize if you were stuck in the line, and want to let you know we are purchasing another register to help with our summer show.

We will have the dates for our summer show up as soon as we know them- join the mailing list to make sure you receive your invitation in the mail. See you soon!

Monday Contest

4 Prizes today for 4 lucky winners...

1. 2.
Michelle Shirley is another super talented artist of Oh Sweet Sadie! Check out her work and you will see what I mean- it is darling. Michelle is giving away 2 items to 2 lucky winners- The first is a birthday invitation pack. 10 invitations and 10 envelopes. (Retail Value $18) She makes these invitations using the images from the children's paintings she creates. They are completely unique from anything else out on the market. Printed on a beautiful stock paper professionally.
And a set of her her YW Value Cards: ($8.00 value) These are 8 flat cards with the Young Women value, coordinating illustration, scripture, and statement. There is one for each of the values. The cards are 5.5"x4.25". Perfect to keep in the scriptures, or to give out for lessons/gifts. The background is done in polka dots, of the value color. Michelle says, "When Sister Dibb, of the Young Women General Presidency came out to visit me, she met with our Young Women's class, and told our girls that they came up with a great saying to go along with the dots in the background-D.O.T.S = Depending On The Savior. I thought that was really good, and our girls really remember it. We are getting them each a set of the cards, so they can remember not only the value, but the scripture, and statement that goes along with it. I think they are so important so the girls can understand what each value means, so they can better strive to live it."

3.
Mariah Green of Mariah Made is donating one of her cute and nifty 'cuddle sacs' to today's contest. Everyone who has had a baby knows that for the first couple of months dressing a baby is not only tricky, but an exercise in futility. You are changing diapers at least 8 times a day. Now your baby can wear something as cute as he/she is, and changing diapers is a snap. I am excited to try it out on Heidi's little something that is due in May. (No more little somethings in my future.)

4.

The talented Olea Gough of Rising Moon Adventures is giving away another one of her darling flannel board stories. My daughter cannot get enough of any of these. One lucky winner will own the story of Rumpelstiltskin (That is a tough spell).

Draper- Last Day!

Hey friends, if you are coming to the show today- remember that there is parking behind the home. We had enough parking behind the house for at least 10 additional cars all day yesterday. Now- the contest! Camie Lloyd is one amazing Renaissance woman. She owns Club Mud, a full functioning ceramic production studio. They teach wheel thrown and hand built pottery classes monthly or for a one time experience. All of their dish ware is microwaveable, oven and dishwasher safe. If you are looking for a truly unique piece, or experience (anyone thinking the pottery wheel scene is Ghost?)- Club Mud can provide. Camie is giving away one of her beautiful sets of bowls to a lucky winner.

Sara Christensen is the creator of Blue Lily Candles. They are all hand poured, and the scents are amazing. They are made with soy, so they burn clean- no yucky black smoke. Sara also provides Oh Sweet Sadie! with the signature bags of gumballs. Another lucky winner can snag a candle for herself. ($15.00)

Emilie Decker is the genius behind, Photo By Emilie. She is giving away a 5x7 and the winner can choose any image from any of her beautiful Temple collections. These little guys are Summer Travelers from Whosies and Whatnots. They are 9" tall and love to be packed along for any kind of trip. Short, long, near, far or anything in between. Check out our summer travelers here from last year. You can win one of your- just post a comment.

It seems in today’s world, we are getting breakfast from a box, lunch from a drive thru, and dinner from a microwave. Everyone isn’t like this everyday, but it feels like we are running through life and meals-- Not giving ourselves the proper nutrition. Lisa Allsup is trying to fix that. She is a huge believer is everyone getting not only their daily vitamins, but their minerals as well.

She says, "We are all overloaded with the pills, potions, ready made “nutritious” meals, prescriptions, hype… how do you know what is right for you and your family without the risk of time, money and fads? It is proven that our organs need vitamins, minerals, and energy to perform their specific functions. Our liquid minerals are just that, minerals. It doesn’t have to be hard for your body to adsorb the nutrition you need. With a few simple changes to your diet and adding our liquid nutritional supplements to your favorite juice (no taste, all 77 of the major and minor minerals) your body will finally be receiving the nutrition it needs."

She is giving away 2 bottles of her liquid minerals ($18.00/each) to another lucky winner.
Everyone who leaves a comment is entered. Individual winners will be chosen. The winners will be announced Monday morning when the next contest will be announced. Good luck!

Keep Calm and Carry On

(picture and history from keepcalmandcarryon.com)
During the spring of 1939 and the war with Germany almost inevitable, the British Government’s Ministry of Information commissioned a number of propaganda posters to be displayed throughout the country upon the outbreak of war. The plan for the posters was to relay a message from King George VI to his people that all capable measures to defend the Country were being taken.

Using the crown of King George VI as the only graphic element it simply read, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. Although some of the posters did make it onto walls (one of which can be seen above), the poster was never officially issued and so remained almost unseen by the general public. That is until a copy turned up over 50 years later within a pile of dusty old books bought from an auction.

Sadly, we do not have any record of who originally came up with the slogan. However, the reproduction is a tribute to that unknown person who created it. People across the world are still fining reassurance in its wonderful and handsome design with the very special attitude of mind that it managed to convey.
The poster began to catch on in the blog world when sfgirlbybay blogged about her find at a flea market in 2006, but really picked up steam last month when it was featured in Domino Magazine. Oh Sweet Sadie! will be selling these awesome vintage posters in a variety of fun colors to match your room decor.
You could be the lucky winner of your own poster, 16"x24", ($25.00) in whatever color you choose. Every comment will be entered into the drawing for the poster, that will take place on Friday morning. Friday will begin our huge weekend contest, so don't miss it!

I personally like this irreverent spin off.

Winner!

Congratulations Jamie- who said, "These are great!" you are the winner chosen by random.org! Introduce yourself at the register (at either show) to claim your PUZZLEKINS prize!

Monday, April 6, 2009

Puzzlekins!

Oh Sweet Sadie is excited to introduce, PUZZLEKINS™! PUZZLEKINS are a new and innovative 2 sided, three dimensional puzzle where the backside of the pieces interchange to become pieces that are figures and things (people, pets, furniture or pirates, parrots and cannons) and the bottom of the puzzles are the inside cutaways of the house or pirate ship. After playtime all the pieces can all be put back into the bag it comes in. Great for thinking and observation skills.

PUZZLEKINS came about after Vicki Lewis was inspired by a wooden jigsaw puzzle her mother-in-law makes that has the pieces facing out. She always thought that it would be more fun if both sides of the pieces were painted. So she designed a house puzzle for her kids and cut it out on a jigsaw. She painted the outside as the front of a house, underneath as the inside of the house, and then the backs of the pieces as characters and objects to be played with in the house setting.
Vicki is kind enough to give one of her House Puzzlekins ($15.95) to a lucky winner. Everyone who leaves a comment before Wednesday morning will be entered into the drawing. The next contest and winner will be announced before noon on Wednesday, April 8th. Good Luck!
