Cheap Date

Congratulations deannegalloway you are the winner and proud owner of a brand new Pillow Tie! Email me and I will get you the details on how to get it in your hot little hands.

Now, I would like to do something I have never done before. Prepare yourself. I am going to recommend something fun to do with your family. If you don't know me, I am all about fun. Fun, fun, fun.

I am sure it is just my kids, but they are super into trains. When I heard that Front Runner was up and running, I knew it was something we had to do. This is not a ride on Trax. This is a real. big. train. Double decker. Very impressive, especially if you have a 3-8 year old boy. (Now, because I have never done this before- check your own facts and schedules. I don't want to be blamed for a botched family outing.) We have done this little adventure a couple of times, and it has been quite enjoyable. Even magical. (Read: I only felt like I was going to hurt a child, my husband, or myself a couple of times.)

Downtown is crazy crowded, and the Polar Express is crazy expensive (but awesome), so may I recommend you take your family to the new Salt Lake intermodal hub at 25o South 600 West. Tickets for a family pass on Front Runner are $13.50, (2 adults, 6 screaming children) and are good 5:00 pm to closing on weekdays and all day on Saturday.

Ride Front Runner to the Layton stop. If your kids are like mine, that is about when they need a break. Get off there. Right in front of your face is Doug & Emmy's Family Restaurant and Cafe (greasy spoon). It is delicious. Their short stack of pancakes is to die for and will feed a small army (2-3 hungry kids) and I think it was around $4.00.

Then back on the train and head home. Let me know if you try it and liked it. If you didn't like it- keep your comments to yourself. Unless something really exciting happens, I won't be blogging (contest!) until after Christmas. If you beg and beg to see a picture of my daughter in her Christmas dress and boys in matching ties that I made, (thank you youcanmakethis.com) I just might.

Merry Christmas friends!

Pillow Tie

Update: If you order your Pillow Ties by December 22nd, they are guaranteeing delivery by Christmas. Also, if you enter the promo code: Christmas, you 'll receive $5.00 off!

One of the funniest vendors at Oh Sweet Sadie! is Mr. Tom Bowen of Pillow Tie. Theses clever BYU students came up with a fun little twist on a good looking tie. They have a little internal bladder that you can blow up to make your tie a pillow. They have fun tag lines like, "No less awkward then a backrub in church." or "Never endure another boring Elder's Quorum lesson." Good stuff.

They are nice, well-made ties- a great present for $20.00. After you have a good laugh, you can remove the bladder and your husband/brother/dad will still have a great tie... you were going to get him one anyway. They have regular ties, and for the idiot savant in your life- clip ons!

Tom is giving one away to one lucky winner. Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing. The winner will be announced next Tuesday, December 16th.

Ginormous Giveaway

Congratulations Kim Binks- you are the winner of yesterday's contest! You can pick up your scrapbook, teacher gifts, cookie mixes, and flannel board story at the show which begins tomorrow!

Here we go on the Ginormous Giveaway (technical term):
1. Made by Me is giving away this super cool puzzle! They have great blank books, and puzzles that your child will love to color and give as gifts to friends, grandparents, and siblings. My 7 year old thought this puzzle here was the coolest and made sure to make me promise to get him one.

2. Hush Boutique is giving away a set of her hilarious Weewee Teepees. Every mother of a new holiday baby boy will appreciate a set of Santa Hat Wee-wee Teepees. This cone-shaped cloth product makes diaper changes dry and easy. It is made of bright red flannel fabric lined inside with absorbent terry cloth, and topped with a white pompom - just like Santa's hat.

Just place a Wee-wee Teepee over his wee-wee during diaper changes to avoid an unwanted peepee shower. (Did I already tell you about when my firstborn hit the nurse in the head at his 2 week check up? funny stuff.) This set of Wee-wee Teepees is the ultimate diapering accessory for boys; the perfect addition to any baby shower gift. It is bound to be the hit of the baby shower!
3. Oh My Words! is giving away this set of STORY letters. What a perfect addition to a childs room, or a bookshelf.

4. Scrap Happy is giving away an adorable baby sling and two baby doll diapers. Every little girl will love to have the diapers for her doll, or stuffed animals. We had a woman purchase a set for her daughter's stuffed worm. I am still up at night trying to figure out how that is going to work. (Heidi called to say the woman was buying it for her daughter's doll that was named Worm. That seems even more disturbing.)

5. This is the greatest. Steve Van Wagenen, with the help of his sons have created this book, The Brick Of Mormon, your children (especially Lego StarWars obsessed boys) will love! Brick of Mormon Stories is a collection of scripture stories from the Book of Mormon, with LEGO bricks and character illustrations. Download a sample story here. He is giving away 2 books to a couple of lucky winners.

6. Last time we gave one of these beauties away, you were all nearly hyperventilating. This isn't Oprah's favorite things ladies, pull yourselves together. It is very exciting and extremely generous of Kids and Pets Furniture to give away one of these pink retro patent leather child chair with foot stool. They retail for $135.00, but she sells them for 1/2 price at Oh Sweet Sadie! Santa can't even beat that.

Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing. Individual winners will be chosen for each of the prizes listed above. Winners will be posted tomorrow morning at 8:00 am and will need to pick up their prize at the Daybreak show.  Good luck!

What do scrapbooks, vinyl, cookie mixes, and flannel board stories have in common?

Congratulations to Bekki- you are the winner of an adorable hat from Whimsy Daisy! You may pick out your hat this week at our Daybreak Show.

Today's contest has many prizes- lets begin.

1. A Red and Black Flowers Altered Altoid Tin and Mini Scrapbook from Nycole Rosen, our resident scrapbooker extraordinaire. She is the greatest- you can even give her all of your pictures and she will create a beautiful scrapbook for you! The moral dilemma would be- do you say you did it yourself?

2. Jamie Bringhurst of Studio JK has your teacher present ready. She is giving away both vinyl decals shown above. You can get pencil container she has shown at Roberts in the floral vase section and the candy container she bought at Target in the kitchen serveware section. If you can't wait to see if you have won the contest to get your hands on them- you can purchase your own on her etsy site.

3. New to Oh Sweet Sadie! is Uncle Ezra's: Home of somewhat famous great and hearty cookie mix. Their mother says, "Great Harvest eat your heart out! Uncle Ezra's is giving you a run for your money!" They are giving away 3 of their delicious mixes. One for you and two to give away.

4. Rising Moon Adventures is giving away this Beauty and the Beast flannel board story. Set Includes: Beauty, Father, Sisters, Beast, Storm, Gate, Mansion, Cottage, Rose, Silk Gown, Fur Cape, Wardrobe, Bookshelf, Fireplace, Harp, Window, Gown, Cleaning, Mirror, Ring, Ship, Place Setting, Fireworks, and Love Heart. (Father measures 4 inches tall.) I know a little girl in my home who would LOVE to own this story.

Alrightee then, you lucky readers of this blog- you only have to leave a comment to be entered. The drawing will take place on Wednesday morning when our final contest before the show will begin. That contest will end Thursday morning- so don't miss it!
